What's new in Special Education?
The Special Education Department at Murphy Junior High School has grown over the past few years, in an effort to meet the varied needs of all our students. We currently have six resource room teachers, three inclusion teachers, one ALC (self-contained) teacher and a speech/language pathologist.
Our teachers closely follow Individual Education Plans as well as 504 Accommodation Plans, and they work side by side with general education teachers, the guidance office, and administrators. Most importantly, we understand and appreciate the integral role parents play in their children’s education. We therefore encourage regular communication between home and school. Any parent, who feels something isn’t quite right or their child is not performing at an appropriate level, should contact their special education teacher in a timely manner.
