The Murphy Guidance Department would like to welcome back Mrs. Amy Poulos to our department. Mrs. Poulos had a baby boy named Nicholas Arthur on December 6, 2008. We are so thrilled to have her back on a permanent basis. We would also like to welcome back Jessica Carroll, a former intern and leave replacement for Erin Connolly. She is once again filling in for Mrs. Connolly who had a baby girl, Megan Katherine on July 6, 2009. Congratulations Erin and welcome back Jessica!
We will be hosting our annual New Teacher Breakfast in September (date to be announced). We invite all new teachers, as well as student teachers to join us for breakfast while we introduce members of our department and the functions of our office. The Guidance Department will be very busy with the opening of school. We will be making many schedule changes to enhance student learning, registering new students, participating in new teacher orientations, and re-familiarizing ourselves with our students after a nice summer vacation.
In the new few weeks we will begin meeting every 7th grade student as we invite them into the guidance office through their art, technology and home and careers classes. They will be re-acquainted with their guidance counselor, learn about how a guidance office works and how to make a guidance appointment.
Starting in the late fall and continuing throughout the winter and spring we will be meeting with 8th graders and their parents to an individual session to develop a Four-Year Plan for high school. Please watch for our invitation letter later in the year.
