The Global Language Department welcomes all staff and students back to school this year. A special welcome goes to all new teachers joining us for the first time: Mrs. Korzenko, Mr. Geoninnatti, Ms. Marques, Mrs. Maxson and Mrs. Rippe. We all look forward to having a successful and rewarding year in language study. We encourage parents to keep close contact with the classroom teacher and to please monitor your child's progress in his/her global language classroom. All children have been provided with daily planners to assist in organizing their studies. Parents are encouraged to access the parent portal and become informed of the major assignments in each language class.
Murphy is proud to honor those 9th grade students with exceptional achievement in language at our annual honor society induction ceremony. The Global Language Honor Society is open to 9th grade students who have maintained an average of at least a 90 in Language 7 and Language 8 and for the first two marking periods of Language 9. Eligible students will receive invitations in the spring. This year our induction ceremony is scheduled for April. The meetings for this society are announced after invitations to join are extended. All these club activities focus on the promotion of language study and cultural appreciation. Mrs. Farley and Mr. Garcia are our advisors this year for this club.
National Foreign Language Week is in March. We look forward to celebrating the study of foreign languages with many building activities promoting language learning.
Please consult our Murphy website for more fall activities. We are excited to meet with parents at our annual Open House at Murphy on Tuesday October 2 at 7:00 pm when we can discuss each course in greater detail.
