The Murphy Junior High School English Department welcomes back all students and staff for another exciting year of learning! A special welcome is extended to our 7th grade students. We would also like to introduce English teacher Ms. Pearce and reading paraprofessionals Mr. McArdle and Ms. Mulligan. Ms. Pearce, Mr. McArdle, and Ms. Mulligan feel very privileged to be part of the Murphy family. We look forward to another successful year in English Language Arts. Parents are encouraged to keep close contact with the classroom teacher and to monitor their child’s progress. Students will be bringing home class outlines that will provide important information regarding teacher expectations and class requirements. During the school year if you have any questions regarding your child’s progress in English, please contact his/her English teacher (730-4800). However, if you still have additional questions please contact Ms. Duffy, the English Department Chairperson at 730-4862.

The NYS ELA Assessment will be administered to our seventh and eighth grade students on April 27 and 28, 2010. Our teachers are working diligently to prepare our students for the state assessments.
